NYPD vs OWS

(New York Police Department versus Occupy Wall Street Movement)
I posted 2 parts of this work in progress in support of Cecily, a girl unjustly arrested during that day and charged with assaulting a police officer. The charge was dismissed. Below the description.

Filmed entirely with a subjective angle and edited with raw cut, to share as closely as possible what I experienced/seen/heard on March 17th 2012, in New York, at Zuccotti Park during the eviction of the park from the NYPD.
This day the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement celebrates 6 months from the occupation of Zuccotti Park; the square is full of people, music and activities. The repression being perpetrated by the NYPD (New York Police Department) towards the Occupy Wall Street, uninterrupted and growing for months, is getting harder as the hours passed. Many peacefull participants have been assaulted, hit and arrested; a whole Saint Patrick’s music band has been arrested because they where passing by the park.
When the evening comes, with the excuse to clean, the NYPD announces the closure of Zuccotti Park (that has never been closed before for being cleaned) and proceeds with the arrest of those who do not obbey. The park is cleared and barricaded; it seems the end, instead it’s just a new beginning for the occupiers who do not give up: they move to Union Square to follow their arrested comrades who are in a barracks nearby.
And that’s how, from that night, it starts the new occupation of this historic square. And a imaginative, tenacious, peaceful, irreverent heads up between OWS and NYPD. For months every evening a large number of police officer uses the barricats to close the park. The occupiers call it “eviction theater”.
